I have been a therapist for over ten years. I understand how difficult it is to reach out and ask for help. I take time to get to know you and feel it is just as important for you to get to know me. My goal is for you to feel comfortable, safe, and trust me. I skillfully integrate body oriented talk, emotion processing, play, and co-regulating Touch therapy to help clients navigate difficult experiences. I have years of experience working with all types of trauma. Many clients express feeling shame around the trauma they have endured so please know there is no judgment.
Healing takes time and it sure is a process.
I want you to understand your nervous system. I will provide psychoeducation on why your body responds the way it does, and guide you with creating positive resources to manage those feelings and sensations.
I received my Bachelors in Psychology from Elmhurst College, IL and received a Masters in Community Counseling from the IL School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, (Chicago, IL).
I have years of experience working in group private practice, community mental health outpatient therapy and at a diagnostic shelter/group home for abused and neglected children.
I am trained in Somatic Experiencing, Somatic Trauma Touch Skills, CBT, and continue to expand my education.
Since I was a young kid I always knew I wanted to help others and it took some time to find out at what capacity. I was lucky enough to work with many people of all ages and realize counseling was my passion. Watching a person heal and transform is incredible and if I had the opportunity to go back and choose to do it all over again, I would.
I continue to work with children, teens and their families. Many kiddos I see struggle with Anxiety, ADHD, Trauma, Depression, and everyday pressures of growing up, etc.. I provide a safe place for kids to come play, talk, and just be themselves. I want kids to want to come to therapy and not think of it as a punishment.
I also provide Parental Support for the caregivers. Guiding them in understanding how they can support their child is crucial for the child's success.
I have a special side-kick who attends therapy with me. Please let me introduce you to Eddy. Eddy loves coming to the office and hanging with clients. He brings a loving, playful, and supportive energy to all. He will sit right next to you on the couch and he always seems to know when someone needs extra hugs and love. I often say he struggles with boundaries so if he lays on you I am sorry, he thinks he is a lap dog.
